Belo Horizonte has more bars per capita than any Brazilian city, and mineiros talk to strangers. Solo here means a stool at a botequim counter, a hostel in leafy Santa Efigênia, and a park where the whole city walks at dawn.

Bookshop-café on Rua Antônio de Albuquerque, open from 09:00, laptops welcome and single tables plentiful. Coffee R$10–16, brunch plates R$35–55. Live jazz on some evenings; staff switch to English without being asked.
A neighbourhood botequim in BH's most bohemian bairro, where the counter is standing-room and strangers share plates. Petiscos R$25–45, bottled beer R$12. Santa Tereza is walkable, low-rise and used to outsiders arriving alone.
The graffiti-covered slope beside the Viaduto Santa Tereza is BH's open-air gallery and skyline viewpoint, free and busy all afternoon. Bars along the top sell beer for R$10 to a crowd that stands, mingles and stays till dark.
The brutalist market's upper floors house craft-beer taprooms like Cervejaria Vero and Bar da Lora, open Wed–Sat from 17:00. Communal benches, R$16 pints and a crowd of designers and students who arrive alone and leave in groups.
Brazil's largest urban park, 2.35 million m² on the Serra do Curral, open Tue–Sun 08:00–18:00, free. Marked trails to the Praça das Águas and Mirante da Mata are patrolled and busy with solo runners on weekend mornings.
Wood-fire mineiro cooking on Rua Mandacaru, open Tue–Sun for lunch. Individual portions run R$60–95, and the covered rural-style terrace seats singles without ceremony. Reserve or arrive at 12:00 before the family crowd lands.
An 18km paved ring around the lake with a dedicated cycle lane and rental bikes from about R$20/hour near the Iate Clube. Constant traffic of cyclists and walkers makes an afternoon loop alone entirely ordinary here.
The square where Savassi's night starts: terraces on Rua Pernambuco and Rua Tomé de Souza fill from 17:00, beers R$10–14. Standing crowds spill onto the pavement, which is how solo drinkers end up in conversations.
