Fourth-generation honey-bread and candle makers selling lect — decorated red honey-dough hearts — plus beeswax candles and propolis. Hearts run €4–15 depending on size; they'll pipe a name on for free while you wait. Open weekdays 09:00–19:00.
Cooperative of roughly 100 Slovenian craftspeople inside the castle walls: Idrija bobbin lace, Ribnica woodenware (suha roba), Prekmurje black pottery, felted wool slippers. Open daily 10:00–18:00, longer in summer. Everything is signed by its maker.
Sea salt hand-harvested at the Sečovlje saltpans on the Slovenian Adriatic, worked the same way since the 14th century. Fleur de sel (solni cvet) €6–10 a tin, plus salt-based cosmetics and chocolate. Open Mon–Sat 10:00–20:00, Sun 10:00–15:00.
The pedestrianised street running east from Prešeren Square is Ljubljana's concentration of small labels — vintage rails, streetwear, vinyl, herbal apothecaries. Most shops open 10:00–19:00 weekdays, close early Saturday, shut Sunday. Prices sit well under Vienna's.
Architecture gallery and bookshop on Židovska steza, with the quieter Breg embankment nearby holding antiquarian dealers and furniture restorers. Slovenian design monographs, Plečnik reprints and small-run objects. Weekdays 10:00–18:00.
MAO's shop stocks Slovenian industrial-design reissues, BIO biennale editions and posters you won't find in the old town. A 15-minute bus 20 ride east to a 16th-century Renaissance castle. Open Tue–Sun 10:00–18:00, closed Monday.
Mladinska knjiga's flagship, three floors on the main avenue, with a large English-language section and the best stock of Slovenian literature in translation — Jančar, Šalamun, Bartol's Alamut. Mon–Fri to 20:00, Sat to 15:00.
Every Sunday 08:00–14:00 the left bank between the Triple Bridge and Cobblers' Bridge fills with Yugoslav-era ephemera: Tito badges, enamel signs, Jugoslavija Airlines memorabilia, brass, LPs, militaria. Cash only, haggling expected.
Slovenian chocolatier known for Prešeren-themed boxes and pralines flavoured with local ingredients — pumpkin seed, Teran wine, salt from Piran. Boxes €8–30. Open daily 09:00–21:00, shorter on winter Sundays.
Europe's largest shopping complex by footprint: 450+ shops across former warehouse halls northeast of the centre, plus Vodno mesto Atlantis waterpark. Bus 2 or 27, 20 minutes. Mon–Sat 09:00–20:00, most shops closed Sunday.
Tiny wine shop beside the Town Hall run by the Movia estate from Goriška Brda, pouring and selling orange Rebula, Veliko whites and Karst Teran. Bottles €15–70; they vacuum-seal and pack for flights. Mon–Sat 12:00–23:00.
