At 277 metres the highest point in central Athens, topped by the whitewashed 19th-century chapel of Agios Georgios. The funicular costs €10 return, but the switchback path from Aristippou Street is free and takes about 25 minutes.
Thirty whitewashed houses built in the 1840s by stonemasons from Anafi island, wedged into the north rock face of the Acropolis. Bougainvillea, cats, no cars and no entry fee — just narrow lanes that dead-end at the ancient wall.
