Gold Coast for Food & Drink Lovers — 3 Days of Bug Rolls, Beach Bakeries & Burleigh Breweries

Saturday farmers markets, Moreton Bay bug rolls on the sand, and Miami's street food laneway after dark.

📍 Gold Coast, Australia 📅 3-day itinerary

The Gold Coast eats south of the skyline. Burleigh, Nobby Beach, Miami and Palm Beach hold the farmers markets, headland dining rooms and industrial-estate breweries locals actually book. Three days of pastries, seafood and laneway street food.

Local Markets & Neighbourhood Food

09:00
🥬 Burleigh Farmers Market

Every Saturday 6–11:30am on the Burleigh Heads State School oval, around 90 stalls sell Northern Rivers macadamias, Tweed avocados, raw honey and Bangalow pork rolls. Entry free, growers take cash and card.

⏱ 2-3 hours 💶 Free entry, produce AUD 5–20
Arrive before 7:30am — the pork roll and sourdough stalls sell out first, and parking on Kalinda Court fills by 8.
12:00
🥐 Paddock Bakery, Miami

A converted Miami cottage where the croissant queue starts before 6am. Pastry lamingtons, brown-butter escargot scrolls and thick-cut bacon-and-egg rolls run AUD 7–16, coffee AUD 5. Open daily 6am–2pm with lawn seating.

⏱ 1.5 hours 💶 AUD 15–25 per person
Order at the window and take a spot on the front lawn — the indoor tables turn slowest at midday.
14:30
🌮 The Collective Palm Beach

Five independent kitchens under one Palm Beach roof — Mexican, Thai, wood-fired pizza, burgers and dumplings — plus three bars and a rooftop deck. Order at each counter and share one table; most plates AUD 14–28.

⏱ 2 hours 💶 AUD 25–45 per person
17:00
🍺 Balter Brewing Company, Currumbin Waters

The surfer-owned brewery on Traders Way pours XPA, Eazy Hazy and small-batch releases straight from the tank room, 4–9pm Thursday to Sunday. Tasting paddles AUD 16, schooners AUD 9, food truck at the roller door.

⏱ 1.5 hours
Ask what is on the two rotating taps — limited releases never leave the brewery and are not sold in bottle shops.

Signature Dishes & Restaurants

10:00
🍩 Bam Bam Bakehouse, Mermaid Beach

Mermaid Beach's cult pastry counter, known for the Nutella-filled Bambolone doughnut and croissant-cruffin hybrids that sell out by mid-morning. Pastries AUD 7–12, filter coffee AUD 5.50, hot brunch until 2pm.

⏱ 2 hours 💶 AUD 20–30 per person
The doughnut display is restocked around 10am on weekends — that second batch is the one to wait for.
13:00
🦞 Rick Shores, Burleigh Heads

Built on the sand at the base of the Burleigh headland, this Asian-leaning dining room made the Moreton Bay bug roll (AUD 36) a Gold Coast signature. Lunch from noon, with window tables facing the point break.

⏱ 1 hour
15:00
🍻 Burleigh Brewing Co

Queensland's oldest independent craft brewery, family-run since 2006 from an industrial shed on Ern Harley Drive. Bighead no-carb lager and the Hef are the flagships; taproom opens Thursday to Sunday from noon.

⏱ 2 hours 💶 AUD 18 paddle, AUD 10 schooner
18:00
🐟 Hellenika, Nobby Beach

Simon Gloftis's Greek kitchen on Elizabeth Avenue chargrills whole snapper and slow-turns lamb on the spit, with saganaki flamed at the table. Shared mains AUD 38–62, dinner service from 5:30pm nightly.

Book three to four weeks ahead for Friday or Saturday; walk-ins only realistically work at the bar before 6pm.

Street Food, Bars & Food Culture

09:30
🍓 Kiss The Berry, Burleigh Heads

The açaí bowl that set the Gold Coast breakfast template — Amazonian pulp blended thick and topped with granola, banana and honeycomb butter. Bowls AUD 14–19, open from 6:30am, two minutes from the beach path.

⏱ 2 hours 💶 AUD 14–22 per person
Take the bowl across to the Burleigh headland lawn — the walking track starts right at the end of Goodwin Terrace.
12:30
🥟 Light Years Asian Diner, Burleigh Heads

Neon-lit Park Avenue diner serving pan-Asian small plates — crispy pork belly bao, betel leaf bites, coconut poached chicken — from noon daily. Plates AUD 12–28, with cocktails built around lychee and lemongrass.

⏱ 1.5 hours
14:30
🍫 Black Hops Brewing, Burleigh Heads

Headquarters of the brewery three mates started on a beer-blog dare in 2014, now on Gardenia Grove. Eggnog Stout and Hornet IPA rotate through a dozen taps; taproom noon–8pm with a pizza kitchen on site.

⏱ 2 hours 💶 AUD 18 tasting paddle
17:30
🍢 Miami Marketta

Warehouse laneway night market on Hillcrest Parade with 30-plus street food stalls — Argentinian empanadas, Sri Lankan hoppers, wood-fired pizza — and two live music stages. Wednesday, Friday and Saturday 4–10pm.

Entry is around AUD 5 after 5pm and the laneway tables fill fast; go straight in, claim a bench, then queue for food in shifts.
