Vilnius's 1906 covered market on Pylimo g. 58, open Tue–Sat 07:00–18:00, Sun to 16:00, closed Mon. Rye bread stalls, smoked pork, curd cheese, fresh-pressed juices and forest mushrooms in autumn. Cash still preferred at smaller counters.
Wood-panelled Lithuanian tavern on Traku g. 17 serving the classic canon: cepelinai with pork and crackling, kugelis potato pudding, and cold pink šaltibarščiai with hot potatoes on the side. Open daily 11:00–23:00, portions are enormous.
Karaim kibinai — crescent pastries of hand-chopped mutton, onion and broth — baked to order at Vokiečiu g. 8. The Karaim community arrived from Crimea in 1397 and this is their signature. Also serves kibinai with chicken, curd or spinach.
Cult farmhouse-beer pub pouring unfiltered Lithuanian kaimiškas from small rural breweries you won't find outside the country. Snacks are strictly traditional: smoked pig ears, black bread with garlic, and salted curd. No-frills wooden benches.
Vilnius's most serious specialty roaster at Vilniaus g. 21, open weekdays from 08:00. Filter brews on V60 and Aeropress with single-origin Lithuanian-roasted beans, plus rye-flour cinnamon buns. Small room, four tables, standing room at the bar.
Manor-house-themed restaurant on the main Old Town street with the widest traditional menu in the city: four cepelinai variants, vėdarai potato sausage, žemaičių pancakes and beetroot soup served cold in summer, hot in winter.
Family bakery at Vilniaus g. 21 known for šakotis tree cake, poppy-seed rolls and Napoleonas layered cream cake. Open daily from 08:00. The Lithuanian curd-cheese pastries (varškės apkepas) sell out by mid-afternoon on weekends.
Michelin-listed tasting-menu restaurant at Užupio g. 22 built entirely on Lithuanian seasonal produce — foraged herbs, fermented roots, smoked lake fish, birch sap. Set menu only, roughly 10 courses, reservations open weeks ahead.
The renovated wing of Halės Turgus behind the produce stalls: ramen, Georgian khachapuri, Vietnamese pho and Lithuanian breakfast counters sharing communal tables. Open Tue–Sun from 08:00, busiest between 12:00 and 14:00.
Riverside street-food yard by Paupio g. in the regenerated Paupys district, running Thursday to Sunday in the warm months. Food trucks and container kitchens serve Lithuanian smoked-meat burgers, Baltic fish tacos and craft cider by the Vilnia river.
Craft beer bar at Trakų g. 4 with 20+ rotating taps focused on Lithuanian breweries — Sakiškių, Dundulis, Genys — plus bottle fridges for takeaway. Flights of four 150ml pours let you cover the country's farmhouse styles in one sitting.
The republic across the Vilnia river packs its bars into three streets. Špunka on Užupio g. 9 pours Lithuanian farmhouse beer with smoked cheese boards; nearby Užupio Klasika does natural wine. Both stay open past midnight on weekends.
