Incheon is built for solo days: metro-linked, low-crime, and full of places where eating alone is normal. Base yourself in the Open Port area, walk hills and seawalls by day, and find company in guesthouse lounges and Songdo craft-beer bars by night.
The lanes behind Incheon Station hold most of the city's small guesthouses (Incheon Guesthouse, Hanok-style stays), dorm beds roughly ₩22,000–35,000 a night. Streets are lit, CCTV-covered and busy until about 22:00 — the easiest solo base in the city.
Sinpo Market (신포국제시장) runs stall counters where one person at a bar seat is the default. Dakgangjeong sweet fried chicken ₩8,000 a small cup, chives dumplings ₩5,000, hotteok ₩1,500. Open roughly 09:00–20:00, most stalls closed the 2nd Sunday.
A self-guided loop past the 1901 Jemulpo Club, the Japanese First Bank and the old Qing consulate steps. Incheon Open Port Museum entry ₩500, Modern Architecture Museum ₩500, both 09:00–18:00, closed Mondays. Signage is in English throughout.
The hilltop terrace above the port has stone benches facing straight west over the container cranes. Free, open 24 hours, and busy with local walkers and couples at dusk — a solo traveller sitting alone here is entirely unremarkable.
The Open Port district's roastery cafés keep long communal bars and English menus; Americano around ₩4,500, hand drip ₩6,500. Several run weekend language-exchange tables where Incheon students practise English — ask the barista which day theirs falls on.
The restaurant credited with inventing Korean jajangmyeon serves single bowls at ₩7,000–9,000 with no minimum-order rule, so a table for one is fine. The Jajangmyeon Museum two doors down costs ₩1,000 and takes 30 minutes.
A 1.5km waterfront boardwalk with buskers, fishing grandfathers and the small My Land amusement park — individual ride tickets ₩8,000, the Viking swing runs with singles filling gaps. Ferries to Yeongjongdo run ₩3,000 each way.
The bar block behind Central Park draws Songdo's international university crowd (George Mason, Utah, Ghent campuses), so English is common and bar-seat conversation starts easily. Craft pints run ₩7,000–9,000 and most places open at 17:00.
A 918-step climb to a stone altar traditionally attributed to Dangun, with Yellow Sea views from the ridge. Park entry ₩2,000, open 09:00–17:00 (last entry 15:00), roughly 90 minutes up. The trail is well marked and busy enough to walk alone comfortably.
A working shrimp and clam port where upstairs restaurants will grill a one-person set of shellfish for about ₩20,000–25,000. Autumn is jeotsae shrimp season. Open roughly 07:00–21:00 with the busiest trading before 10:00.
A 6.1km automated rail loop 18 metres above the port, circling Wolmido, Incheon Station and the old docks in 42 minutes. Tickets ₩8,000, running 10:00–18:00, closed Mondays. Carriages are small and single riders get a full window bench.
The Tri-bowl arts building sits beside the seawater canal where a small water taxi crosses the park for ₩4,000. Evening brings joggers, book-readers on the lawn and skyline reflections — a quiet close to three days of walking.
