A single street of wholesale fabric houses behind Pasar Badung — Toko Duta, Toko Sinar Bali and dozens more stacked floor-to-ceiling with cotton, lace and ceremonial gold-print prada. Metre prices are fixed and printed, no haggling needed. Shops close 17:00.
Local neighbourhood market with no tourist pricing — canang sari offering trays, palm-leaf lamak, incense bundles and clay ceremonial ware. Bundles of ready-made offerings 5,000-20,000 IDR. Busiest before temple ceremony days; runs into the evening.
Denpasar's gold and silver souk — around forty family jewellers in a two-block stretch selling by daily gram rate, not by design. Balinese granulation silverwork and 22k Javanese gold. Silver roughly 15,000-20,000 IDR/gram plus workmanship.
Renovated shophouse in the old Chinatown quarter serving single-origin Kintamani beans alongside a small shelf of Balinese-made ceramics, leather goods and roasted beans by the 250g bag. Coffee 25,000-45,000 IDR, beans from 90,000.
The colonial-era shopping street lined with heritage endek houses. Balinese civil servants are legally required to wear endek on Tuesdays, so quality here is serious: ready-made kebaya sets 400,000-1,200,000 IDR, hand-loomed endek metres from 250,000.
Denpasar's newest mall on Teuku Umar with air-conditioned Indonesian labels, a large Gramedia bookshop and a top-floor food court. Useful for fixed-price basics, phone accessories and cosmetics after a day of bargaining. Open 10:00-22:00.
The island's wholesale art market, 40 minutes north of Denpasar, rebuilt as a three-storey block. Sarongs from 25,000 IDR, rattan bags 80,000, paintings and shadow puppets by the crate. Opens 08:00, best before the 10:30 tour-bus wave.
The stone-carving and silversmith village strip on the Denpasar-Gianyar road. Workshops let you watch granulation and repoussé work before buying at studio prices, well below the Celuk showrooms aimed at coach parties.
Six generations of silversmiths in one village; the back-lane ateliers off Jalan Raya Celuk sell the same pieces as the highway showrooms without the 30% coach commission. Silver rings from 150,000 IDR, filigree earrings 250,000-600,000.
