Chittagong

Chittagong (population 2.6 million city, 5.3 million metropolitan area — the most important port city in Bangladesh and the second-largest city in the country) is the commercial capital of Bangladesh and the most important maritime gateway in South Asia after Mumbai: the Port of Chittagong handles over 90% of Bangladesh's foreign trade (the most commercially dominant single port in any South Asian nation). The city sits on the Karnaphuli River (the most important river in the Chittagong division), surrounded by the most beautiful green hills of the Chittagong Hill Tracts (the only highland area in otherwise flat Bangladesh). Dhaka

Dhaka (ঢাকা — population 23+ million, the most densely populated megacity in the world: over 44,000 people per square kilometre in the city core — the most persons-per-square-kilometre single city statistic in human urban history) is the capital of Bangladesh and one of the most chaotically vibrant, most historically layered and most overlooked cities in all of South Asia. Founded in 1608 as the Mughal capital of Bengal (the most commercially productive single province in the Mughal Empire — the "jewel of the Bengal" that produced the most famous textile in human history: the Dhaka muslin — the most impossibly fine single woven cloth ever made by human hands, so fine it was called "woven air" and "running water"), Dhaka is the home of the most ornate Mughal architecture in Bengal (the Lalbagh Fort, the Ahsan Manzil Pink Palace), the most important river port in Bangladesh (on the Buriganga River — the most boat-traffic-dense single urban river in the world), and one of the world's most dramatic and most adrenaline-inducing urban rickshaw cultures (the most rickshaws per capita of any city in the world: 400,000+ registered bicycle rickshaws — the "Rickshaw Capital of the World").
